So for a while now, I have been attempting to build a more sustainable lifestyle for me and my little family, It is something that is always in the back of my head, but I never actually get proactive in doing so.
Now that I am a mom, I thought being sustainable was just not the most convenient and “easiest” way for me to live life and figured it was something I would work on later in life when I actually had time. Thankfully, I came to the realization that being minimal, more sustainable, and practicing a “zero waste” lifestyle is a healthy and more natural way to raise my daughter.
My first step in being sustainable is by consuming less. A book I am reading stresses the rule of “refusing” things before getting something that is not needed. This is a big one for me because I am an avid shopper and waster of money. I like to get anything for everything which usually means I end up hoarding a lot of things I do not need.
This year instead of buying a whole new Fall/Winter wardrobe I have decided to instead re-wear my old clothes from last year. They’re all in excellent condition, I have a closet full of literally everything I could need for this weather, and it will have my creative juices flowing when I pick out my outfits. Thrifting is also a good way to use up garments for a full cycle, but I have not yet managed to master that skill yet (but excited to try it out!)

I love his outfit because it was comfortable to wear and did not feel like I was wearing athlesiure wear. It was also chic without it needing to be super dressed up and fancy!
